Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub

Care and Culture

Share:

Global Shapers define themselves as a community of young people actively
working on building solutions, initiating action, and sustaining positive
change in the society. But more often than not, while pushing to make
impact, we tend to forget about our own wellbeing. In this fast paced world
where everything is highly competitive as we are constantly trying to establish
and prove ourselves, there are times when it gets too tiring and we are
exhausted from the rat race. Whether it be social sector, development field,
business, entrepreneurship or any other line of work, we are always hustling,
comparing ourselves to competitors, struggling to stay relevant. Maybe let’s
take momentary pauses, appreciate little joys in life and consciously care for
ourselves. As corny as it sounds, it is important to prevent burnout and anxiety.

On top of our full time jobs, we are also change makers who are contributing
for the betterment of communities in our own unique ways. But what we
consider voluntary and part of the social responsibility, we also need to make
sure we’re honouring our own self worth and boundaries. We have other sides
of our personality that need attention and stimulation. Plus the added
responsibilities that come with being a Shaper might sometimes be
overwhelming. Our mind is engraved with capitalistic ideals that forces us to
constantly work for self validation, glamourizing productivity and even feel
guilty when pausing. We need to remind ourselves to adjust our pace and
listen to our bodies. In this journey, let the hub be your support system, not an
obligation.
Immense gratitude to Mega Maskey (Shaper from Kathmandu Hub) for taking the initiation.
