In the aftermath of the earthquake, sanitation issues had not received the kid of focus it needed. Open defecation combined with loss of personal hygiene items in people’s damaged homes, was likely to lead to an outbreak of water-borne diseases. The Kathmandu hub, partnered with Clean Up Nepal to provide sanitation workshops and materials to the affected people.

The Kathmandu Hub crowd sourced, funded and procured items for hygiene packs for 1150 families in Malta, Manikhel, Chandanpur and Kaleshwar Village Developed committees. Each hygiene pack consisted of items like bathing and laundry soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, sanitary napkins, and other such items packed in a 10 liter bucket. Each hygiene pack would suffice for a family of at least 5 members and reached out to approximately over 7000 families with supplies.
