The Global Youth Social Entrepreneurship Summit (GYSESummit) is organized by the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum, spearheaded by the Chengdu Hub and co-hosted by over 10 city hubs globally. Aligned with UN SDGs, the Summit features forums, competitions, and workshops that bring together experts, social entrepreneurs, corporations, impact investors, and other stakeholders to empower a new generation of social entrepreneurs and build young leaders’ capacity for social impact.

Kathmandu Hub co-hosted the GYSESummit and partnered with CNI-Youth Entrepreneurs Forum to deliver Nepal’s first and largest Startup Fest as part of the lead-up. The event attracted 5,000 attendees and was closed by the finance minister. From 300 startups that applied for awards, Educase, an education infrastructure startup, won the Social Entrepreneurship Award and will pitch at the GYSE Summit finals in August 2022.

In the run-up to the Summit, an experiential workshop on Social Entrepreneurship was conducted on August 3, 2022, for 35 management/social entrepreneurship students from National College and Kings College (Nepal). Four founders/founding members of Nepali social enterprises mentored and worked with the students.

In December 2022, Kathmandu Hub conducted a session on Social Entrepreneurship at Apex College as part of a workshop series that began during the GYSESummit collaboration.
